In 2004, a wild idea was hatched: an ultra trail race in Big Bend National Park. It had never been done. The logistics were impossible. The state park is huge: over 300,000 acres. It’s several hours from San Antonio. Water is scarce. Fuel is scarce. Transportation is scarce. The isolation also means it has lowest light pollution of any park in the lower 48 states: making it a fantastic place for stargazing. This was the beginning of a truly great event that has been held annually ever since. This year Carroll Voss, Erik Stanley, and the team of volunteers and competitors with Trail Roots are looking forward to the best race yet.

ZOO RELAY-san antonio zoo
Walkers and runners of all levels can register online to sign up as a team of four (4) or as an individual. The run includes a 4-mile or 8-mile relay. Each registration includes your registration fee, access to the Runner’s Village on race day, two drink tickets on race day, runner’s bib, 2023 Zoo Run adult shirt, 2023 Zoo Run drawstring bag, and one (1) complimentary adult standard admission zoo ticket. The village will feature live music, food, beverages, and games on the Great Lawn.

Global Running week is our holiday; a celebration of the activity we love and the sport that brings our community together. We’re inviting all runners and walkers to join us on June 10 to mark the occasion, set a goal and cross the finish line.

About the race
Join Girls on the Run as we complete our Spring 2023 season! Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Completing the 5K gives the girls a tangible understanding of the confidence that comes through accomplishment as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. Crossing the finish line is a defining moment when the girls realize that even the seemingly impossible IS possible.
This event is open to the public—all are welcome to join! Proceeds from the event go toward scholarships. No girl is turned away from our program based on economic need. Help us enable all girls to run.
All finishers will receive a Girls on the Run towel at the finish line--soaked in ice cold water if the day is hot! Finisher medals are given to the girls who participate in our program, primarily to recognize the completion of their 10 weeks with GOTR, with the 5k as their final lesson.
Register by April 15, 2023 to be guaranteed a T-shirt. After 4/15/23, T-shirts will be first come, first served.

Come out and take control of physical and mental health while also breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness. Still I Run is a community where people can share their experience of dealing with mental illness through physical activity. 1 in 5 Americans will experience some type of mental health condition in any given year. Chances are that if you don’t have a mental illness yourself, you may know someone that does. Mental health illnesses can affect anyone and does not discriminate. Still I Run is a community looking to erase the stigma by participating in the conversation about mental health. If we don’t talk about it because we feel ashamed, then we continue to suffer alone and in silence. The money raised by this race will go directly to this group and help with several of their programs, such as: Starting Line Scholarships, Run Chapters, and development of the Mental Health Runner Program which will provide participants access to a mental health gym, a journal, and shoes.

All Half Marathon runners will receive a warm event Hoodie, Finisher Medal and first 100 registered will get an edragon productions Beanie. Dragons Den Half Marathon, 10k and 5k
Dragon’s Den half Marathon is a challenging race for all levels. There are three events: Half-Marathon, 10k and 5k. All registrants receive a finishers medal, a turkey leg, refreshments, and amazing race swag plus mush more. The race course is held inside San Antonio at Pearsall Park and will have rejuvenation stations every mile with ice cold water, ice cold electrolytes and ice cold towels. All finishers of the half-Marathon will receive a finishers t-shirt. All the races will have age group award tiles. First 100 Register will get a race singlet, all others will receive a short sleeve.
